Quality Accreditation Professional Coaching (QAPC) Scheme
The QAPC Scheme provides accreditation services to operating organizations, kindergartens, or child care centres by evaluating early childhood service quality based on ECERS – R/E and ITERS-R with global credibility. In addition, through on-site professional coaching and/or top-up onsite professional coaching, the Scheme renders training and support to early childhood education practitioners so that they can develop an understanding of the subscales as well as the indicators under each item of ECERS and ITERS. Moreover, they are expected to use these scientific assessment tools for self-evaluating their existing services and subsequently compile school development action plan to pursue excellence.
The Scheme includes three service components. Individual kindergarten or children care centre may choose to undergo either one or more than one of them based on their own needs.
Content of service
Quality Accreditation (QA)
Accreditation assessors will make onsite observation to evaluate the quality of learning environment with use of ECERS or ITERS. After oral reporting and feedback, PECERA (HK) will issue an accreditation certificate with validity of 3 years according to the assessment results.
Onsite Professional Coaching (OPC)
A professional coach will render no less than 35- or 45-*hour onsite training to help the teaching team understand and use ECERS or ITERS to evaluate the quality of their learning environment, and also discuss together an action plan for school improvement so as to facilitate professional development of the team. A report on pre-coaching and post-coaching quality of the environment will be compiled by the coach.
Top-up Onsite Professional Coaching (TOPC)
A professional coach will provide no less than 20 hours of on-site top-up training for schools that have previously participated in professional coaching. This training will include revisiting the use of ECERS or ITERS to reassess the quality of the learning environment, as well as co-working on an improvement plan to help the school achieve quality accreditation standards.
