PECERA Hong Kong is invited to be the Collaborator of the Marden Forum on Early Childhood Special Education Needs 2016 Seminar Series (I) for Educators and Parents of Young Children (Age 3-6) at University of Hong Kong on 17 September 2016. All young children engage in behaviors that can be problematic at one time or another. Teachers and parents report that managing children’s behavior is one of the hardest things they do. Facilitating children’s social emotional development can result in the prevention of challenging behaviors. Implementing strategies in the context of naturally occurring routines and environments can make life easier for children and adults alike. In this seminar, Prof. Michaelene M. Ostrosky, Professor and former Head of the Department of Special Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) will share research-based strategies that have proven effective in supporting young children’s social emotional competence and preventing challenging behavior. This event is organized by Centre for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education, Faculty of Education of The University of Hong Kong and collaborated by PECERA Hong Kong and sponsored by The Marden Foundation.
